Could the default setting for displaying sequence ID tooltip – show database ref for when Jalview JS is launched be off.
Only for certain sequences the tooltip is masking all the information in the sequences ID panel.

For info, this would just mean changing line 220 of gui.AlignViewport from
setShowDBRefs(Cache.getDefault(“SHOW_DBREFS_TOOLTIP”, true));
to
setShowDBRefs(Cache.getDefault(“SHOW_DBREFS_TOOLTIP”, false));
Also the checkbox default in Preferences at line 231:
showDbRefTooltip.setSelected(Cache.getDefault(“SHOW_DBREFS_TOOLTIP”, false));
