Swingjs JalView

Jim, Mungo, et al.,

We have Eclipse running by command line, compiling using Java2Script, creating a full site, etc. without any actual opening of Eclipse. So that part is done.

Q: What operating system do you use that would be running this command line?

Of course, we’re still a long way from getting JalView in JavaScript, especially since you folks have certainly completely rewritten the JalView code since that fork was made. But it is a start.

Andrew, I just committed several changes from 2015; JalView is running on my machine in JavaScript, but only at the state it was in and with the version of SwingJS from 2015. Do check it out and see if it compiles for you.

Hi Bob,

Wonderful news!!!!

Linux - Specifically RHEL 7, for the build server. Most of our
developers are on OSX, but having a cross-platform solution .. ie
Windows, too.. would be best. I guess that means scripts / install path
config for multiple platforms? One alternative approach might be to
create a docker container that does the cross-compile, and leave it to
the developer / build system to make sure they have Docker available.

Of course, we're still a long way from getting JalView in JavaScript,

yeah - sorry about that. We can't stop people being busy

@Andrew - would you like to be added to the jalview-dev list so we can
continue this thread ?

Jim.
