Jalview’s alignment and analysis services WORKING! (thanks for letting us know)

Jalview’s alignment and analysis services unavailable since yesterday. Please, could you tell me when it will be back in service?
Thank you
Best regards

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Carine, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Normal services have now resumed - many thanks to UoD Digital and Technology Services for fixing the issue.

All the best,
Khadija

Sorry, I’ve just tested it and I’m still having the same problem.
thank you
Best regards

Hi Carine - could you please check your web services preferences ? https://www.jalview.org/help/html/webServices/webServicesPrefs.html - sometimes Jalview doesn’t refresh the webservices menu automatically. You can also try saving your work as a project, closing Jalview and opening it again.

Let me know how you get on !
Jim

Hi again @Carine - we’ve tracked down the problem (we think!) - JABAWS services are now green across the board (see https://www.compbio.dundee.ac.uk/jabaws/ServiceStatus ).

Please let us know if you have problems still.

Jim

Hi Jum,
I have refreshed the web services page and it is working again. Indeed, it was blocked (red).

Thanks for your help.

Carine

Greetings. I am running Jalview 2.11.4.1 on Windows 11 and as of the last couple of days, I am not able to do automated alignments. “Alignment” is greyed out in the Web Services menu, and my attempts to refresh services in the preferences have not been successful (the blue bar swipes back and forth endlessly).

Hi there - thanks for letting us know! We had a technical issue that’s now resolved.

Huh. Then perhaps the problem is on my end since, despite having a perfectly good internet connection, I am still unable to connect to web services. Their status is indicated as yellow in the Preferences, and they will not refresh.

Hi @segmentality - it wasn’t a problem your end - after we ‘fixed’ the source problem it turned out something else went wrong. We’re in the process of moving our servers to a new infrastructure - once that’s done we should no longer have these issues.

Many thanks for your reply and all the hard work you put into Jalview. Good luck with the server move.
