Jalview 2.11.5.2 now available

Dear Jalviewers!

This is a longer than usual post to announce that a new patch release has been published for the 2.11.5 series. Jalview 2.11.5.2 introduces fixes for two critical bugs: one affecting subgroup colouring when using Clustal shading, and the other preventing Jalview from searching and retrieving structures direct from the EMBL-EBI PDBe search API.

Jalview 2.11.5 is now in maintenance mode, and the team is now focused on bringing version 2.12 into production. With this patch release, we also say farewell to Dr Ben Soares, and remember Dr Suzanne Duce, Jalview’s first Training and Outreach Officer.

To try out the upcoming features in Jalview 2.12, including support for HMMER and Jalview’s new Slivka web services stack, install the Jalview Develop App or open the JalviewJS Development page in a browser. Thanks go to Dr Stuart Macgowan and the DRSASP for making sure Jalview’s services continue to operate smoothly. As usual, please report bugs via discourse.jalview.org or direct on our Atlassian Jira Bugtracker.

In additon to the 2.12 development work, we will also be migrating development systems to Jalview’s gitlab development platform over the coming months. We don’t anticipate any interruptions to services, but please get in contact if you notice any issues.

Until the next announcement, happy Jalviewing!

Jim, Khadija, Renia and Geoff.
