Consensus sequence extraction on ubuntu

Hi,

I'm using jalview on linux (ubuntu) platform and want to know how to extract consensus sequence from the alignment (right click and copy from consensus histogram option doesn't seems to work in the ubuntu)

Thanks for any help!

Best, Ganesh

Normally this does work (the option copies the consensus to the clipboard, for pasting into an alignment or another program).

Could you open the Jalview Java console (Tools->Show Java Console) and try to select the option again ? Please send me any output and I'll investigate (or you could open a bug at issues.jalview.org !).

Hi Jim,

Thanks, I tried but nothing happens when I right click on the histogram under the alignment, below is the java console output, please let me know what you think.

Thanks, Ganesh

How did you install Jalview ? It looks like source build but no build date has been given. Could you try the version at

http://www.jalview.org/builds/release/webstart/jalview_2G.jnlp

Hi Jim,

I used a installer file (with java VM) available for linux platform from this link - http://www.jalview.org/Web_Installers/install.htm and then I think I had to download/install jdk, don't remember exactly, anyway, a new version you sent is working, I could copy the consensus sequence when I right click near the consensus name and not on the histogram so that's good. Thanks for a quick replies and help!

Best, G
