Error loading

After updating to Jalview 2.5 I got the error loading message when trying to
load older files. I changed the preferences as stated in an earlier message
in this discussion group, but the problem was not solved. I'm using Mac OS X
10.4.11.

I also attach one of the files.

Thanks in advance
Dirk

Thanks for the email. The problem appears to be specific to the installAnywhere version of Jalview when run on OSX (it doesn't even launch on my test box running 10.6 - so I must have broken it when uploading to the web server!). I suggest you use the webstart link below until I can update the web site with a working installAnywhere package for Jalview. Many apologies!

The webstart link is here:

I will be releasing a new version of Jalview 2.5 at the end of the week that fixes this issue - (2.5.1), but until then, if you need to use the installAnywhere version, then please follow the instructions for modifying the Jalview application memory settings here:
http://www.jalview.org/jvmmemoryparams.html

You will need to increase the available memory for the jalview app to at least the following:

  <string>-Xms64M</string>
  <string>-Xmx256M</string>

as ever, I hope this helps!
Jim.
